I saw him sitting there, west 23rd and 7th the Fashion Ave, sitting there at an angle to it in front of Chelsea Guitars, it was a hot puff pillowed sky October day , not many on this most regal of Chelsea roads, and there he sat, a canvas precisely placed on his paint covered easel, and there he sat this 3o something artist, leather cowboy hat his known signature, sitting not askew but straight precisely on his mop of hair with a touch of age showing through, there he sat the cowboy artist, a fixture on these NY streets, always with what made NYC a place to seduce the eyes and question just how many stories inside these stone sirens....so there he sits for the 6th day, and every day I walk past him ...we nod sometimes chat, once laughed...ya thats him the Cowboy Artist painting the Chelsea Hotel....wrought iron railings, dead precise...so I will remember him well in front of the Chelsea Hotel...as I see myself pulling the sheets over my broken body in the Sid and Nancy suite.............
