Sleeping on a Balloon

(you may think this poem is a metaphor, but it's not. I actually sleep on an inflatable mattress.)
I sleep on a balloon
it's hard to keep your balance in dreams
the world can roll in an instant
people change faces
one minute you are chasing
the next one you are being chaste
I live on a balloon
sometimes air and sometimes helium
now and then gasses beyond description
the ether of dreams
I bounce on a balloon
better than a trampoline
bungee buoyancy
like walking on air
skiing on the void
I sleep on a balloon
my dreams could bust at any moment
awakening's torn membrane
if you fall off the balloon in your dreams
you never hit the ground
I sleep on a balloon
it's hard to keep your balance in dreams
the world can roll in an instant
people change faces
one minute you are chasing
the next one you are being chaste
I live on a balloon
sometimes air and sometimes helium
now and then gasses beyond description
the ether of dreams
I bounce on a balloon
better than a trampoline
bungee buoyancy
like walking on air
skiing on the void
I sleep on a balloon
my dreams could bust at any moment
awakening's torn membrane
if you fall off the balloon in your dreams
you never hit the ground
