My favorite koan was that one when someone answered a stumbling utterance of mine with "Is that some kind of koan?"
But seriously, I liked that one about the Buddha who finally asked the guy who'd been standing outside the gate watching for awhile why he didn't come in. Outside?
And I can't believe Jack K had the nerve to write an ice cream koan. That just sucks.

To me, that's always been part of the koan attraction.
There I go again, with 'me' and 'that'. Shameless.

The only koan I know about is koan bread.
Is that where Lrod got the "cracked" part?
as in
"Jimmy cracked koan and I don't care."
?

Yeah, I knew the definition.
That was the funny part.
Definition
A kōan (公案; Japanese: kōan, Chinese: gōng-àn, Korean: gong'an, Vietnamese: công án) is a story, dialogue, question, or statement in the history and lore of Chán (Zen) Buddhism, generally containing aspects that are inaccessible to rational understanding
My reply to your koan.

Just reading all the comments in this thread are making me swear off the koans forever. Such a headache.
