My Don'tDo List

Post by Lightning Rod » April 30th, 2008, 7:32 pm

Many people have a ToDo list

I have a Don'tDo list

I don't drink or smoke while I'm asleep.

I don't let other people waste my time.

I don't take anything personally.

I don't run when I can walk, I don't walk when I can stand, I don't stand when I can sit and I don't sit when I can lie.

When I lie, it's not when I say, "I love you."

I don't do windows, but I also don't hesitate to break them.

I don't remember where I put my Don'tDo list.

------

What's on your list?
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

damn, dino
I thought someone would come up with the obvious joke:
"I don't do lists."
but I love the listless twist

jack, I'm gonna come down to san marcos and beat you up. Count on it. It's high on my Don'tDo list. Haven't we established yet that poetry has nothing to do with words?

Have I established that my brain may be miss wired? Jimbo calls me a word kook, a high honor coming from him.

Yes, I have a Don't Do List.
I don't do disrespect or dismissed.
I can do ignorance but I don't do ignored.
I play notes. I don't do chords.
I don't lie around when I can work
unless I've earned the reclining.
I don't do starvation. I'm much too fond of dining.
I don't do excuses, I'd rather confess.
I don't do fabrications. They cause a mess.

It's true, I do have a Don't Do List.
No matter how depressed,
I don't do slice my wrist.
I used to claim I don't do end rhyme.
But I lied. So what?
Where's the crime?

My Don't Do List is only for me.
I logically conclude, I don't do rude
and I don't do irrationality
(unless, of course, it's me who's lost reason).
And I verify, eye to eye,
I don't do disloyal or treason.

There are other things on my List of Don't Do
but sometimes I do them – though I don't want to.
I don't do fear well or lonely, either.
And I don't do illness very good neither.
Obviously, I don't do grammar worth a damn.
I don't do jelly when I can do jam.

My Don't Do List is longer than most, I attest.
But I don't do comparisons. Then again, I jest.

I don't hurt unneedlessly
I don't cry in public
I don't diet
I don't remember where I put the rest of my list...
immeasurable...illogical...infinity squared

you can say anything here
get a way with murder if you use one of these

"I don't do"
why does that remind me of a song you sing
"I don't do ...somethin? I can all most hear it.

i was going to say i don't do big winkies
but i've done that big winkie before
remember "wee willie winkie"?
he gave me nightmares, for sure!
Wee Willie Winkie runs through the town,
Up stairs and down stairs in his night-gown,
Tapping at the window, crying at the lock,
"Are the children in their bed, for it's now ten o'clock?"

"Hey, Willie Winkie, are you coming in?
The cat is singing purring sounds to the sleeping hen,
The dog's spread out on the floor, and doesn't give a cheep,
But here's a wakeful little boy who will not fall asleep!"

Anything but sleep, you rogue! glowering like the moon,
Rattling in an iron jug with an iron spoon,
Rumbling, tumbling round about, crowing like a cock,
Shrieking like I don't know what, waking sleeping folk.

"Hey, Willie Winkie - the child's in a creel!
Wriggling from everyone's knee like an eel,
Tugging at the cat's ear, and confusing all her thrums
Hey, Willie Winkie - see, there he comes!"

Weary is the mother who has a dusty child,
A small short little child, who can't run on his own,
Who always has a battle with sleep before he'll close an eye
But a kiss from his rosy lips gives strength anew to me.

To tell you the truth
winkies kind of creep me out
Maybe it is all those yellow faced insect like japanese I saw in those old world war two era cartoons.
