My Logo
you can't be too rich, unless you are a monk
you can't be too skinny, unless you are a reefer
such luxuries are purely intellectual
much as the sensual tempts the sexual
the mirror tempts the image
doubt temps suspicion
like yarn dangled before a kitten
fascination
My logo is simple
What you see is what you get
you can't be too skinny, unless you are a reefer
such luxuries are purely intellectual
much as the sensual tempts the sexual
the mirror tempts the image
doubt temps suspicion
like yarn dangled before a kitten
fascination
My logo is simple
What you see is what you get

I enjoyed the poem.
But your definition of "logo" isn't correct.
A logo is a graphic representation or symbol of a company (well it could be for a person, I'm sure). LOGO, if I remember correctly, is from the greek for "name."
You could call it your truth, or your motto, maybe... your tagline?
"What you see is what you get" could be your tagline or your motto.
of course, we usually call that WYSiWYG in the biz.

I knew I could count on you to correct me, doreen
Logos (Greek λόγος) is an important term in philosophy, analytical psychology, rhetoric and religion. It derives from the verb λέγω legō: to count, tell, say, or speak.[1] The primary meaning of logos is: something said; by implication a subject, topic of discourse, or reasoning. Secondary meanings such as logic, reasoning, etc. derive from the fact that if one is capable of λέγειν (infinitive) i.e. speech, then intelligence and reason are assumed.

I didn't mean to "correct" you. I just didn't get your use of the word.
I had a double post.... I removed the extraneous one.
Thanks for the definition. I got confused. Sorry. i've been designing logos and writing taglines and slogans for 15 years. My bad. In my head, I was just using the word the way I have always used it. I didn't understand. Thanks and again, good poem!

I just figured you meant logos, not logo.

I first heard the word logo about forty years ago, a friend told me it was a corporate symbol or something like that. But I just checked Merriam Webster and apparently logo means motto also.
Main Entry: logo
Pronunciation: \ˈlō-(ˌ)gō also ˈlä-\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural log·os \-(ˌ)gōz\
Date: 1937
1 : logotype
2 : an identifying statement : motto

Oh. I thought you said it was a difference between "logos" and "logo" and I didn't know that difference.
Cool.
I didn't know "logo" could also mean "motto."
Now I get it.
Duh.
Thanks, Jack!

I can't edit fast enough
I thought logos was a religious term, I thought it meant the word.
but logos is also the plural of logo.
