Irish girl,
trades in vows
and broken things,
stands tall in the choir
to sing:
Come home,
take refuge
From your pain
He knows you,
He loves you,
Come home
[Refrain]

lovely piece!
When I think of "River Dance," I think of fast and furious and full of unstoppable energy. This poem doesn't remind me of that at all.
It is musical, yes, but more in a mellow, balladic way.
The lines LR quoted were the lines I was going to quote, too. Very nice!

a few years back, i was able to visit the dock in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where my ancestors would have landed with whatever they were able to bring with them from Ireland. it was an emotional experience. i felt an erie deja vu in the great open receiving area.

On an unrelated personal note I wonder to myself what have the Jews done for the world lately?
I am a first generation north american, I am the wretched refuse of Europe's teaming shores.

I like this too, being Irish and all.
It's true, traded vows, and broken things, yes plenty.
Refuge?
