Dammed metaphor

Discovered a metaphor in something I wrote,
something I missed like a rippled cosmic gutter,
at the time, but I'll be damned if I can remember it now.
Peace is temporary, like a rippled cosmic gutter.
No one makes a living on metaphor these days,
so why not slip out the back way and shuffle on gray,
remember the gray and remember the key,
forget the lock and remember the key.

hey mnaz...I've picked myself up from that rippled cosmic gutter
numerous times....this is great....a friend sent me a cartoon from the New Yorker the other day, titled Hecklers at a Poetry Reading....
and one audience member is yelling up to the poet on stage,
"Hey, you call that a metaphor ?".....got a kick out of this poem....

I have periods of losing or forgetting keys and periods of losing and forgetting other things.. it seems it´s cyclic somehow

thanks saw & arcadia. this one was going to be longer, until i fell asleep. now i see that it was plenty long enough, and probably should have been shorter. interesting idea, though (and a true story).
Found a metaphor in something I wrote,
but I'll be dammed if I can remember it now,
like something I missed in a rippled cosmic gutter.
Nobody makes a living on metaphor anyway.
Why not slip out the back way and shuffle gray,
past the porch, re-cede, check new moon speed,
strangely familiar and slow at first, the pace,
then faster, though faster isn't much good.
You only end up here again.

wake up!
hey! wake up,
mnaz!! you fucking crashed on your keyboard!
we're all a metaphor for someone else... metaphorically speaking, of course.

Crashed on my keyboard? Nah, just retreated. Reconsidered. Slept well. We tend to run quite a sleep deficit, so I understand the allegation. However, I deny both the allegations and allegators.
