She's Having Her Nails Done

she's having her nails done
special decoration on the pinky
she tells herself it is for the hot date
but it's really for herself
she wants to be a princess
like every girl
no, she wants to be a queen
with kohl on her brow
and attendants, eunochs
pedestals, forget queen
she wants to be a statue
eternal as marble
touch her cold as stone
on her pedestal
she has beautiful nails
what does a statue need
with whitening strips
rejuvenating lotions
nips and tucks?
she is static in her beauty
like it was yesterday
she turns to stone, like a fingernail
she's having them done
special decoration on the pinky
it's not for the hot date
it's for her

heartless as a discarded whitening strip,
she would love this poem,
if she could

my mind goes about nine different ways with this comment, judih
botox means nothing to a statue either
nor lasix eye fixes or nose jobs nor granite-suction

I had my nails done last weekend for the wedding. They look lovely. It took about an hour and a half and cost me $40. Geesh. This is only the second time in my life I had this done. First time was like 10 years ago. Oh well, a few other times during the past 10 years, I did it myself with the over-the-counter tips but it's not the same. Anyway, I remember the other time I did it, it really weakened my already brittle nails and I didn't think it was good for them. But I did it anyway because I had been gardening and I had so much dirt in between thin layers and I couldn't make them look good... I felt dirty...so I had them done..... my nails aren't healthy when I'm under stress and they tend to break in layers... hard to explain in words. I'd need a writer to help me with that. So, I'm just saying that it really does look nice when you do it but then you have to go back, apparently to have them filled in or something as they start to grow and that costs more money, too, and I don't think it's very healthy for your real nails underneath.
As far as the poem goes and the responses between you and judih, well I didn't understand the poem..... or the responses.
LOL! .. I'm sorry... maybe I shouldn't reply when I don't understand something but oh well.. that's just me.. I tend to speak out. Actually, I haven't understood very much poetry lately, including my own. But I write it anyway.
It's fun playing the piano with my nails done like this because they make a percussive rhythm on the keys and it's like playing two instruments at once.

it's that special decoration on the pinky that gets you a leg up, I mean anybody can paint their nails, but that special thing for the pinky,
now that's where it's at. Sky's the limit...............

where can I ship my keys?
I would love to be part of that alloy.
Can they make my keys the fingernails?
doreen, I ruin my nails regularly on the piano. I pound too hard when I get excited.

cecil: no, I didn´t donate keys (the statue traveled in a sand-ship through the Paraná from Buenos Aires to Rosario) and really I have no idea about what the city government thinks... I guess it´s happy!... it has some city logic, I don´t know... "another park with a statue"...

also there are a lot of people and organizations involved in disputa with the festejos.
l-rod: you´re late for the donation, the statue is already done!!!!!!! but I promise I´ll look to Che´s fingernails and then tell you about it!!!!!
