Cash Crop

Post by saw » August 5th, 2008, 10:53 am

across the oceans
from a faraway kingdom
billions of tax dollars burn
in crack pipes, gone in seconds
like soldier's lives, there is no
peace as promised,
no Osama dead or alive,
no gleaming monuments
along the inexorable path
to democracy.
King George's hand-picked
lackey cowers, a prisoner
of Kabul as resurgent Taliban
war lords in karakul caps grin
at the bountiful harvest, not
from Allah, bushels of tainted
dollars reaped in platinum poppy,
the acreage in the fertile green valleys
grows as quickly as the overdoses
in New York city, camel caravans
replaced by four-wheel drive.
The United Nations drug chief
throws in the towel from his corner
of the ring, and the world's downtrodden
sedate themselves in abandoned buildings,
as a pusher lays down cash for a new
Lexus and a new casualty of turf war
is not laid to rest in Arlington Cemetery.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yes, what a mess. The Soviets were horrible. The CIA built the jihad machine into a real force. The Taliban are evil incarnate, or so I've been drilled. They must be, to kill the West twice over with their drugs and drug money! What's real any more? Osama takes down our buildings with jet planes and is left to lurk. George "doesn't spend too much time on it" while trying to nail down all that sweet Iraqi crude year after bloody year. McCain says the "surge" is working. Sure it is; we're bribing people not to attack us. What's real any more? Nothing. And everything.

thanx mnaz...appreciated your comments and concur with the confusion over reality....The Surge is ridiculous.....sure, anywhere
we can can concentrate our forces will show some results, but only in that area,...it's like bailing out a boat with a coffee can as it continues to spring more leaks......Senator McCain should be the poster boy
for the damage, prison camps, can do to your mind.....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
