tiny days between us

O the days of the bitter almond
when you rocked me with your storm
& filled my belly with peaches

such tiny days between us
i shouted them
into the corona of time

they are there still, over & around
the palm of our hands, in the truth
that only the dead know

between doors that opened and shut
like whores
where you rubbed your genie lamp
so hard
that you got your wish

& i lost mine

Perdida, wrought solid in solid stone. This one took me to the river and washed me down.

you have a certain style about you, which makes me jealous...i've yet to find mine (i think, or hope).

bitter almond confuses me though. i've never thought an almond bitter. i drink almond infused tea, eat almonds... love the word and the smell...

and "...rocked me with your storm/ & filled my belly with peaches" is really smashing! it creates a perfect "mood" in my head, without my brain actually knowing what the fuck is going on!

I enjoyed this!

this reminds me of paul celan:

"Count up the almonds,
count what was bitter and kept you waking,
count me in too
..."

"CORONA

Autumn eats its leaf out of my hand: we are friends.
From the nuts we shell time and we teach it to walk:
then time returns to the shell.

In the mirror it's Sunday,
in dream there is room for sleeping,
our mouths speak the truth.

My eye moves down to the sex of my loved one:
we look at each other,
we exchange dark words,
we love each other like poppy and recollection,
we sleep like wine in the conches,
like the sea in the moon's blood ray.

We stand by the window embracing, and people
look up from the street:
it is time they knew!
It is time the stone made an effort to flower,
time unrest had a beating heart.
It is time it were time.

It is time."

the mingo, thank you so much for your lovely reply and comment. :D

bennie,
bitter almond confuses me though. i've never thought an almond bitter
I understand your confusion i suppose, i guess the almond would be bitter if it was an "off" one. "O the days of the bitter almond" my way i suppose in saying it was an "off" time
I really appreciate your comments and your time, thank you. :D

panta rhei, i havent heard of Paul Celan, but jeez i really love that poem, thank you for sharing it and i will most certainly visit that link you supplied. His poem reminds me pf Neruda, who works has been my influence. Thank you! :D

Constantine, you are too kind, i thank you. :D

as if you lost a poem
trying to remember the content

so you kept writing
in the silence
of what was lost

and it became you
