poetry - it will be what it will be

Post by Doreen Peri » August 11th, 2008, 2:41 pm

it will be what it will be –
an energy exercise,
a focus puzzle,
a dedication test,
an arrested moment,
a song in development,
an embellishment,
a gradation,
a sensation of sorts,
a substantial search
for substance, an
unencumbered luncheon
with yourself, me serving
it up raw, halfway broiled,
or very well done and you
deciding whether it's worth
sinking yer teeth into,
swallowing or spitting out

whatever this will be about
it's up to you to figure it out
.
.

you know that I don't hesitate to mess with you, doreen

but I can't mess with you about this piece

it is lyrical and musical and shows your natural chops

it's also a very erotic read

you are serving it up raw

I'll swallow rather than spitting it out

as if i were a stranger

the thought of it is fantastic
as a long walk through town
with hip-waiters carrying
my rucksack and canteen for coffee
and looking very insignificantly enthused
or as a poem who has nowhere to go
but to feel quite comfortable about it
and the words that fill the space of time
in all its various colours
crawling out of the cryptic
and wondering if i am discussing
myself or someone else
as if were a stranger

as if i were a stranger

brings to mind

joseph conrad's

the secret sharer

as all poets are secret sharers unto themselves

and that another is not really the muse

but the muse inside onself
