The Unknown Poet

he was a zen bop heretic
nobody knew his name
his obscurity preceded him
he grumbled like Bukowski
oh yes, and drank as well
and did he mention his
unjust lack of attention?
yes, he mentioned it again and again
it became his genre, woe-is-a-me
what could be more pitiful
than an artist unappreciated?
(do I hear a violin?)
