The Digital Age

I witnessed that fateful battle,
when the pulleys fell to hordes of circuits.
Friction was forced underground and binary,
into uncountable blocks of bloodless digits.
Something changed.
The music sounded a bit more shiny,
the oaken vibration a bit more petrified,
the pain a little less real to the touch.
I can't put my finger on it.

this is a very complete piece

like a mushroom is complete or a lichen

the subscript about the music is dead on

why do I like it?

I can't put my digit on it

Thanks Clay and Dino. riffin' again, I see...

Cruise the Detroit boneyards.
Inhale rusted cables and toggles,
gunked-up carburetors and levers,
spring-loaded governors, hissing air.
Their descendants no longer run the show.
Rubber meets the road inside of a chip now.
Old time mechanics sit and reminisce,
slip slowly under the binary tide.

the new millennium - high digital trumps mechanical.
