The Role of "John McCain"

It's pretty obvious this man is not fully behind his job, the job he has been assigned to do, which is not to be the president but to take the fall.
All one has to do is look at him, his demeanor and body language, his bearing, and listen to his tone of voice when he speaks, to know this is so. He knows he's lying. And he doesn't want to do it, but he has to because they've picked him. And so, he's doing it, reciting lines to be the Big Defense, war hero dude, but he clearly does not want to do it. It's all over him.
It's like the Republicans have access to time travel or something. They know the future. They know Obama wins. But somebody has to be trotted out to fill the shoes, and this is McCain's year. He always wanted to be a viable presidential candidate, and this year he gets to pretend to be one.
"I'm not really a president, but I'd like to play one on t.v."
Nobody in the party really expects him to win. If he did, that would be absolute proof that the system is rigged. He's just a body, a stand-in put up in front of the camera to read lines. It was never in the plan that he should win. He knows this. And he's not happy with the role. But he's playing it because he knows he's got to. Because it's the only role he's been given. Because he knows it's the only way he has of ever getting even close to what he wants. Because if he can't ever actually be the president, at least the pretense of trying is something. He can at least say he tried, and he can go down in history that way. He can forever be the guy who lost to Barak Obama, the first black president in American history.
I guess that, at least, is something.

Peace,
Barry

Everyone knows John McCain was a prisoner of war. Hanoi Hilton. Five years in a tiger cage. Not jail. Not doing time. Not incarceration. These things are boy's play in comparison to a tiger cage. No one ever acts like this is a significant event or has any bearing at all on anything. A tiger cage. What little is mentioned on the subject runs along lines such as this: "The experience toughened Mr. McCain, made him ready." NO. A tiger cage toughens no one. A tiger cage has only one purpose. It is not meant to break the will. The inhabitant of a tiger cage is left to one & only one destination & no one ever comes back from it. Those subjected to the confines of a tiger cage pray fervently for death as the only way to avoid that destination but death is denied them. Death is not allowed, the destination is insanity, and to insanity you will go. A tiger cage never fails to achieve this. Never. A tiger cage does not reduce your humanity, it doubles it, triples it, and fills the expansion with gibberings and other voices that were not there before. Those that survive are not survivors, if they get to walk away they are not lucky. When they leave the insanity goes with them, their constant companion to the end of their days. These things are not Mr. McCain's fault, but the fact that he allows himself to run for president is. He cannot care about any of us or our nation, and he knows it.

interesting take but a bit macabre
mr mingo

i did tiger cage training
only a few hours, mind you
i almost flunked pow school
i fell asleep in the concrete bunker
and missed a formation
sleep deprivation

was called out late
givenh a funny suit
a coat of rags
and made to wear it
and stand at the commandant's door
his barking dog to keep me
until finally i cast it off
and walked away
and the wooden cages
and hoods
and isometric tortures
and questioning
with "academic moment" breaks
to test our sincerity
in being brainwashed
interrogations
so we would fly strafing sorties into north vietnam
and feel nothing but pride
and loath the enemy
and that's mccain's ilk
he comes from the warrior class
of the plutocracy
the republican domain
never stopped to think about the reason
it was his warrior quest
for country

fuck that bullshit

bush says, at th convention
big screen
(flaming sky blue behind old joe, too)
like,
"if john mccain can withstand his torturers in th hanoi hilton,
he can stand up to th radical left!"

jesus chrizt

i hope that barry's oracle is correct
very well said
we gotta overturn this bullshit narrow minded cultoral morass that plagues us.

"we gotta overturn this bullshit narrow minded cultural morass that plagues us"

Ain't that the truth, I've been living under the tyranny of stupidities all my life, as soon as I find a stupidity-free zone I'm going to live there.
So lets get it done & get back to eating food & kissing women in peace.

Could it be that...someone got "smart" while watching the Sixties happen? And that the game is now set up so that the "stupid" are in charge? Because when the "intelligent" were running things, shit got "out of hand"? And "we" can't let that ever happen again?

The cream rises to the top...so it can be skimmed off...and the lesser milk served to the masses?

Peace,
Barry
