What If.......

Post by saw » September 20th, 2008, 12:54 pm

What if I only looked
for Picasso rays hidden
in the carbon chambers
of buried love, searched
only for the special gifts
lost in sorrowful frozen
blocks of ice,
packed tightly
in the sawdust dreams
of forgotten expression.

What if I could only hear
the acoustic armies
of Schubert, Stravinsky
marching with me across
the cobblestones of consciousness,
the bumpy symphonies
forever broadcast
at frequencies too high
for the linear receptors
of greedy political swine.

What if I could dance
in a Navajo healing ceremony,
kick multi-colored sand
with my bare hardened feet,
the forces of generations
of dispossessed ergs compressed
into glowing marbles of courage,
and mini crystal balls would hail down
on the thirsty tongues of the masses,
with the thawed wisdom
of ancient tribal campfires.
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I always wonder what the timeless artist may have thought of his/her time-bound surroundings, the temporary madness in all flavors as the ageless creation took shape and began to flow..

man has, to a large degree abandoned simple beauty and the potency
of rites of passage for cancerous consumerism, and in the process
lost his human face.....if the earth is still around in a five hundred years, historians will not write favorably about the nefarious elements
of television, advertising, and the selfish posturings of the Me
Generation...but that's a big if.........
