My House Is A Very, Very, Very Fine House

In my house, the level of levity is high
don't come here if you can't take a joke
the incense you smell is sarcasm or cigarettes
this is the smoking section,
the breathing section is outside
I allow you to come, but I'll tell you to leave
if you can't take a joke
in my house there is humor
rough and tumble, bullet holes in the walls
whores and gamblers like it here
they will gladly take you for a joke
my house is a camp of the unlikely
insomniac virtuosos crash on the couch
I don't mind if you sleep past noon
as long as you can take a joke

I'll light the fire
And you place the flowers in the jar
That you bought yesterday

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you
All aboard this train

Take the train from Casablanca going south,
blowing smoke rings from the
corners of my mouth.
Colored cottons hang in the air,
charming cobras in the square.
Striped djellebas we can wear at home.

HE WAS TIRED OF BEIN' POOR
AND HE WASN'T INTO SELLIN' DOOR TO DOOR
AND HE WORKED LIKE THE DEVIL TO BE MORE
A DIFFERENT KIND OF POVERTY NOW UPSETS ME SO
NIGHT AFTER SLEEPLESS NIGHT I WALK THE FLOOR AND WANT TO KNOW
WHY AM I SO ALONE?
WHERE IS MY WOMAN?
CAN I BRING HER HOME?
HAVE I DRIVEN HER AWAY?
IS SHE GONE?

my house
is a very very very lonely house
i had two cool cats but one couldn't
stay in the yard so i guess he
got run over or drank some anti-freeze
and the other one stalks the neighbor's
rabbit hutch and pisses on the other
neighbor's tires so neither neighbor
likes me much and i don't care
life used to be so hard
now every thing is harder
but i can't blame you
'cause you left too
doobie doobie doobie doo

Blind man running through the light of the night
With an answer in his hand
Come on down to the river of sight
And you can really understand
Red lights flashing through the window in the rain
Can you hear the sirens moan
White cane lying in a gutter in the lane
If you're walking home alone
Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around
