Ruminations

Ruminations

All the petty wars
Fading into transient images
Collected like tattered newsprint
In a collage of historical Dada
Filling the empty corners of my mind
With headlines forgotten
In the abyss of memory

Blurred letters merging
Soaked in liquid amnesia
Ink stained hands
Trying to piece together
The fragments of intimacy
An archivist of broken hearts
Putting together what ifs
As if the patch work quilt
Could've been saved
If only the tattered shards
Had been mended
In a moment of sanity
Like putting down the cigarettes
Forever

Well John, it's been a rough year for me. My battles seem endless and multiplying. They all run together at this point-- this poem has that kind of feel to it (to me). "Liquid amnesia" is cool... (I had me a little "liquid amnesia" yesterday when I wrote the "Mob" piece... hehe)...

nice writing John, many good lines...I was fond of, " in a collage of historical Dada"....good stuff......when I used do carpentry in old houses I would occasionally find old newspapers in the walls and I read them cover to cover if they hadn't disintegrated too much....
good work.

Nazz, liquid amnesia would come in handy right now. Sorry to hear about your rough year. As someone told me last night,"this too shall pass." Thanks for reading!

Saw, I love your story of finding old news papers. I have some old one's myself handed down. Thanks for your interest in my work.
