Summit Meeting

President Voyer flew into a summit.
Envoys huff jet fumes and noble gases,
leg-cramp legacy and mantle pieces,
methane speech and little pastries.

Ride thermals over the smog
all parched in sheet metal gleam.
Speech loops on his drunken wingspan,
in bombed out alleys of Paris springtime.
On balconies over Eiffel ruins he thought
people don't understand what hurts them.
He would pay to watch them suffer.
Greatness eludes them.

The ocean is monotonous,
author of rhythm and evolution,
too damned steady and patient.
I want violent slums of diplomacy.
I want your religion to curse me.
The ocean has a beat like sunset.
Sunset asks where the day went.

Indeed, this is ....so full of artfully spoken truth...and my favorite line is "people don't understand what hurts them".....
Brilliant as per usual...

I wonder if we the people will ever solve our politician problem.
