hidden deep inside lies a world of pain,
a whole race of guilt, isolation and shame-
Where death and deciet are mere games to play,
and the life as a number is lived day to day-

the memories of those deprived of free will,
and the lawless slayings that continue still-
it is the warrior's test of both body and mind,
where the wounded and weak are left behind-

here, alienation binds the suffering and dispair,
while mental abuses can progress beyond repair-
it's a lethal existance where chaos is the order,
with hatred at center, and fear on every border-

you defend your mind, every thought in control,
or a misspoken word just might cost you your soul-
every move is planned, every glance being guarded,
reactions become reflexes with mercies discarded-

where eyes learn to see both sides front to back,
and trusting only yourself for the eventual attack-
you'll know how to maintain when the fighting begins,
for it is he who bleeds the least, that usually wins-

though pure survival may only win in this war,
emotions are laid open, right down to their core,
but for what good is a man who is brave or bold,
if he let his spirit grow ever callous and cold-

and that battle is one fought all on the inside,
it is one of inner worth, self-respect and pride-
it was a long, long war I thought would never cease-
after counting my casualties, I have declared peace-
