We are the new generation, yeah!
same old same as the last
just letting millions die
while we sat on our ass

let the starving starve
we can watch it on HDTV
let 'em wear suicide packs
I bought one, got one for free

I must say that I am ashamed
what an excuse for a disgrace
when the shit hits the fan
we don't even cover our face

what of our wonderful exploits
look at all we have achieved
mass murdering all done by remote
it's almost too hard to believe

causing wars to create peace
listen to the lies we learn
my god costs more than yours
we're beyond any point of return

we're burning the whole planet
for a burger with fries and a hat
it feels like mental indigestion
but there must be a pill for that

but we have lots a charities too
congress has "save our raises"
cut education and cut health care
shit, even rats get grants for mazes

what a world we've squeezed into
it's no wonder why I feel so mad
this is what we call "the best we have"
later they'll call it "the best we had"

I know where we are all headed
at this rate even I'll live to see
don't think it'll be better before worse
so enjoy your freedom while it's still free

This technology obsession-- never really got it-- well, the obsession part I guess, especially when the weapons people get hold of it. We continue to progress and discover how to harness nature, but our spirit can't lag too far behind, it would seem.

Sometimes I wish the letters f, r, and e could be omitted from the alphabet.

yeah, I believe...technology has surpassed our intellectual ability'''
(we're too stupid to handle our own inventions)...

We have polluted everything we touched for a couple of hundred years with our "advancements" in industry, before we realized
how it was destroying the planet, let alone the idiots living on it...

In a way I love it though, what comes around-goes around...our
most valuable lesson...too bad suckers, maybe next time around
someone would find a better use for brain cells...

I might live long enough to see the end, and so I'm stocking up on
popcorn and goobers for the show. I've thought about taking a
lounge chair over to Israel, and gettin' a good seat for that drama
as well...wanna come along?

Walt, you place into perspective with a sharp wit, what many are probably feeling now. All our leaders, "feel our pain." Yet they are so far removed from us. You said it so well my friend. We the people are sheeple. When will we ever learn?

there's no time left to learn, john, the momentum is too great.

I read your words
with tears and a sigh,
impressed at the rhythm,
the rock and wry,
embracing what is
can ruin our spirits
if we're lazy and indolent
and too self absorbed to hear it;
but if not and we can attend
to what's in front of us unembellished,
then it's inspiring and motivating
fact it entices one to be yellish,
to call back the powers we let get away,
stand on a mountain and in unison say,
this is ours you can't have it
for your tricks and circus songs,
we've been tranquilized by your evil lies
for a century too long,
it's our turn now, to take hold of your folly,
to come back to soul, to return to jolly.

Loved your poem here JW.
See how it inspired me?
