Space Age Love Song

That there woman
She’s got me by the bells
With her noxema hands
Polishing my magic flute
Gives it a shine like chrome

After her day at the cleaners
Tired eyes beseech me
To squeeze existential aches
Into soft religious fervor
And open her hymnal
To Rock of Ages

Her hair streaked with grey toil
Handmaiden takes a vacation
In our dreary palace of dreams
Lit by the flickering light of love
My Walmart work world
Subsides into service of spouse
Anointing her with ivory soap
Sigh suffices for I love you
As she gather’s strength
To iron clothes

Doreen, happy V Day to you too! Here I tried to portray the reality of marriage as opposed to the romanticized versions. Doing simple things to make life more comfortable for each other is a noble endeavor. Glad you liked the first stanza. Hope your V day was groovy however you chose to spend it. ;)

This is great, John. I like it. Very real and straightforward. "Noxema hands...magic flute" (grin) Oh, dude...what can I say?:)

Peace,
Barry

Barry, so great to hear from you again! Glad to see you here. Yes I tried to make this a straightforward and realistic portrayal of marriage. I'm glad it came across that way. Yes the first stanza was my favorite, with the second, a close second. ;)
