Bend down
to da school
a hard knocks.
Get a degree free.
(Best thing you ever learnt.)

Live in a shoppin cart.
NOBODY GONNA TOUCH THAT!
Your home is safe now.
Plenty of throw outs to eat.
(Those are the best delicacies...
mmm the unchosen.)

Yep, everybody
sugar's same now.
Us all a buncha sweet nothins
together,
all over the world.
(Lived this long
never knew it.)

A few bottom floor licks,
and other down and dirty
debriefing tricks.....
you taste the real honey then.
Trees suddenly have feelins!
Ground simple,
is something to be grateful for.
(It's where eternity sleeps.
Beauty is deep.)

But you
gotta be broken first.
Only then can the
insights slip in
amongst your pieces,
gleam between your
slurred whiny words,
(of shock and surprize,)
and knock down those
wherewith walls of
learned and foolish
consistencies,
you always took
for granted.

Hester, you say with poetic virtuosity what the homeless experience every day. I've wandered the midnight streets without a place to rest my head. So I know what you speak of. Powerful poem with a rhythm which draws me in. Very well done.

a sobering look at not just homelessness as we once knew it, but the new members that never imagined such a thing was possible in the USA....and we will all know someone that will lose their home, perhaps it will be you and me....these are things the average citizen never dreamed of......poignant and insightful work, hester....
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

A juxtaposition as if I was reading your poem and this one by constantine on facing pages in a book:

get hip

Still thinking about the title ()

"I am so unhip it is a wonder my buns don't fall off" DNA paraphrase

as if your poems are parallel lines that intersect

dino with the eye of a little god
viewed from a distance

yours from the inside looking out
up close and human

please pardon the ramble
you touched a nerve
I have had the home sick metafiscal homelessness blues
And sometimes I realize it could happen again
