Smug blinked first.
Hah! I won.

residual smoke out my barrel.
Smug ran off like a chicken.

Other words ain't fun like that.
Take love for one.
Shit, I blinked inside a minute!
Deader than a doornail.
Love didn't seem happy about
my death either.
Strange duel that word.
I keep away from it.
Safer to stick with
words I'm certain to win.

Certain.
Now there's a word worth a staredown.
I mean what kind of word is that?
It means nothin.

I mean,

Smug seems an awful lot like smog.

I mean, if we were to listen to the free market gurus
thirty or forty years ago, we might be choking in our own smog.
Well, we cleaned up the air a bit, I guess.
