The eyes have it

i saw the look in her eyes
but didn't realize that it was
indicative of a fabrication.
i thought instead it was
all in my head but it wasn't,
it was in hers.
what's worse is this –
how could i have missed it?
the peculiar stare led
to an air of negative vibration.
the lie became evident
with the frequency.
but since it was something
i didn't want to believe,
i experienced cognitive
delinquency.
should have trusted my gut,
listened to my intuition.
it was a water-is-wet observation.

My eyes said "What's wrong?" and I verbally asked, "What's wrong?" and she replied, "Nothing."
And then it became quite evident not very long afterward that what was wrong was I was being lied to.
