Body is a temple

The body is a temple.
Do not defile it with excess,
be it wine or boredom or debt.
Respect its architecture.

Wisdom is love, a mystery.
No wisdom without love and conversely.
If I conquered the world without love
I conquered nothing.

Some have special powers.
Some hear the voice of God.
Some are getting through the day.
Love is the mystery of a day.

Thank you, Mark, saw and m-t... fragments, reflections (and tangents, I suppose) from the chaplain's visit on Monday. She asked if we had any reading requests and I said Corinthians 13, the love chapter. So she read the love chapter to Mom from the Living Bible, and then later that night, Mom left us. It was a fitting goodbye, I think. She was about the most genuine loving person you could ever hope to know, not a selfish or dishonest fiber in her being, and I will miss her tremendously. My mind understands on some levels that it was time, but it is a heartache unlike any I've experienced. I don't want to dwell on it, perhaps just quietly dedicate this poem, such as it is, to her memory and continue, unsteady as it may be for a while.

Love:

But what do those know of love who do not knw that it is a cross? Surely the Buddha was right that love is the fountainhead of hurt and misery, suffering and despair. He also taught that life and love were not worth while. But to take this cross upon oneself with open eyes, that is nobility, that is devotion, that makes life worth while.

I think love is the unifying force that holds it all together...
the mystery, the magic...an emotional ride that touches all
extremes...especially when one so full of love is missed...
sorrow is evidence of love, Nazz, deserving its attention.
Also deserving, is the celebrating of the loving memories
that you have, and will always have. The love never goes
away, it can't...its power is not of a man-made world.
