Levitation: the branches are not often
Seen through the petals early
In the evening, and children
Often play beneath floating snow banks.
Enhanced by florescence and zither,
A glowing wood emerges at night.
Is it any wonder that they are fascinated
With neon after seeing these petals
In Mid-March or April? And when
The children grow up, the girls
In secretary uniforms run out
And into tepid hurricanes
And tornadoes; they let the unmelting
Snow land on their shoulders
And tangle with and in their hair.
Though too far away to hear,
Affected higher-octave
Cries of awe fill the streets
At the almost-end. And the rest?
As for the rest, let them be.
You will know what happens next
If you listen to what the Japanese
Have given the cherry blossom.
