Song from Ed to Hannah

I wonder why I even bother
I'm old enough to be her father
but when she looks at me
with total admiration
my heart will race
I need sedation

If you want to know the truth
she takes me back to my youth
when life and love were innocent
just bright eyes and adoration
It's all just too much for me
I think I need sedation

She knows I'm a jerk
but admires my work
she even knows that I'm married
but there are perks
for being a jerk
they are many and varied

what was I thinking?
I must have been drinking.
she's only half of my age
I say Rimbaud
she thinks Sylvester Stallone
are we really on the same page?

From May to December
maybe I'll dismember her
and put her in my freezer
after all she's a young girl
and I'm just an old geezer

I couldn't please her if I tried
or appease her if I lied
it's more than a distraction
a definite attraction
but I wonder why I bother
I'm old enough to be her father.

when we get to that point
it's eyesight - that's all that remains
to keep us looking and dreaming
of times never to be reclaimed

ok ... cool... just another comment... didn't really care for the verse which talks about dismembering her and putting her in the freezer....

is the musical about a murderer? just curious

doreen, it's out of character for you to ask to make things easier.

Actually, it's very much IN my character to seek out the quickest, least complicated method to get anything done. Just goes to show you how well you know me. ;)

I finished working for the day so I took some time to google it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elective_Affinities

There is no murder in the story.

sweet, just sweet 8)
not the way my heart works
mine becomes still
but I am no doubt the most sexually pure person on studio eight.
hmm
maybe that needs a winkie?

as usual your poems take weird twists for me,

but you know I am a word kook

all in all a very satisfying reading experience for me
thanks for writing
sincerely
