love lessons

love in the past so different
seemingly all desire and lust
ignited through infatuation
satisfying the wanted need

I gave more than I received
me a giver and not the taker
naively loving so much more
at least the way I saw it then

my lessons in life about love
not fully appreciated by me
took time to see and feel it
didn’t get it until love came

love didn’t ask for servitude
or attempt to possess my soul
to mold me into what I’m not
just use me to fulfill a fantasy

surprisingly I found love kind
being interested in me as me
supple and tolerate to my way
giving time and space to grow

of course I gave back this love
lovingly giving what was given
without the feeling I’ll be used
or worry not enough was given
