the female guide

the poet is but the ragged cloak once spoke
that unveils his earthly knowledge in flame
she an image of the same that holds his gaze

the banners of lanterns unfurl in lingering look
he pens this desire that all idols will shake
yet ponders what the flutter of her tress

may confess to such unearthly heaven swept
this dwelt of the lowered lights where time drips
in maze of her touch opens the heart's sun

where the rivers of ancient Alexandria read deep
the reflection of all the books and scrolls, unfold
that were put to the torch where her eyes still held

the secrets that once existed there where all truth
rings way down into the silence of every free spark
that once ignited the movement of her fervent lips

way down in the fancy untold story that has always
been told from the center of the cosmos alleyway
handed to the one that arrives there with the next

one to pass the invisible text from ritual kiss to kiss
from long dark line that separates ample breasts
heave in the chancy meeting of embers embrace

then to trace the release of scents from fluers du mul
and explore the twists and turns of forbidden word
leaving the flash of lightning between flesh of poems

oh beatific vision where once Beatrice stood close
to woods a whisper of a shape trembling like a leaf
to enter the inky forest that descends into world tree
