Disillusion

The strike,
(like a chess piece moving forward,
knocking lesser grade pieces
of their square mark)
sends us tumbling down.
We, both disillusioned-
struggle back up.
And realize,
the blow between our egos
wasn't so strong
as it was so unexpected.
We walk towards each other again,
retracing our steps
before the strike
and around it,
so that we start all over again.
