A collage of Arguments

First Argument

Our words interlock.

Solidifying in agitated thought,
then breaking off in chunks.

Here is the build up.
Here is the downfall.

Anger scribbled in the sand.

Third Argument

Not nearly as intense as the first
more emotional than the second.

The pain we feel is from within,
not from without.

And so when we argue,
it's against the nature of the world around us,
against the wounds others have carved into our hearts,
against the people who have broken us into nothing.

Then we realize:
We aren't arguing against one another
but for each other
and we fall into each other's arms-
hands, lips, tears,mouths, bodies-
And know,
we love one another so much,
we fight to stay together
when the outside forces of our miserable lives
try to break us apart.

Second Argument

You thought I meant one thing
I thought you meant the other.

We never seek to hurt the other
and we don't.

We speak with our mouths closed
and our ears open. Our eyes slightly ajar,
our tears gluing them together,
away from the words
neither of us has said.
The road to happiness: Perseverance, Endurance and a whole lot of Hope.

Anger scribbled in the sand.
And God
And Goddess, too
Have blessed us with waves.

Peace,
Barry
