Complications

Post by Lightning Rod » October 4th, 2009, 7:05 pm

there were complications
even at my birth
I presented full rampant
raw hero material
a tiny but smooth harpoon
sunk and anchored in a womb
the midwife marveled
and coaxed me into this world
with her eyes

and the lies were waiting
already
yes, the lies
en garde, not surprised
challenged, christened, circumcised
the green was combed for battle
and I advanced like I had god between my legs

my armor
thick as the skin on scalded milk
an invincible membrane
bulletproof as kevlar silk

then the women lately arrive
mothers lovers, rivals, wives
complications with camouflage eyes
their scented strategies, with needles, knives,
lips in legion hurl kisses, lies
always the lies are waiting

so I played along with the ambush
took the fifth and a scholarship
to study the lies, the lies
and their twisted corollaries.
bootleg merchandise
I learned them inside out
the lies, the lies

you, the arrow of my ways
my diet strict as a nun
an anorexic ration
passion bleaches in the sun
it's impossible to reach you
the distance too far
the time is too soon
the lies they loom like phantoms
midway between my love and
the comfort of a tomb
complications
many complications

love is the law, love under will.

"the lies they loom like phantoms
midway between my love and
the comfort of a tomb"

These are brilliant lines Sir ElRod.
In a pool of urgent beauty.
Moving write.

I'm cracking up, funny stuff. Great images. Damn women.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
