gaping gawking gaga,
mad as hell, look at them
mad as hell at their oppressors,
suburban eyes on jumpy screens.
outrage! look at them, mad as hell.
thank god it could never happen here,
jumping on things, getting clubbed,
unless detroit or l.a. won a title.
sorry about the shah, no hard feelings.
we should help those poor iranians
or bomb them maybe.
look at them!
watch the indignation.
follow bouncing balls of pundit
stutter speak, they speak truth,
mad at other stuff tomorrow.
sorry about saddam.
sorry about suharto, pinochet,
oliver north’s deep set eyes.
look at them, mad as hell.
we should help them.

thanks still.. I dredged this one up, beat the hell out of it, tenderized it, after reading some extended comments on another board by a random spokesman of The Programmed. The quandary of bombing Iran (in vogue, 2008) vs. "helping them" (briefly in vogue, 2009), seemed too great an irony to pass up. that, and my original long-winded version of the pome, from june or whenever it was, happened to fall out of the stack of papers i was throwing out to recycle..
