we waited for
the rainbow's
to come
i had seen 'em
come in 2's
before
hanging high
over mr. poe's
neighborhood
southwest baltimore
the tom thumb still
tootin' steam on a
sunday afternoon

switch scene's
a fall day
legs tired
15 stories up
in the blue skies
above where the
power brokers play
above the point
called hains where
i played golf in the
dew many a morn
in the land where i figured
out how to play the
bluest of harps like
a horn
the rivers collide
onward to the bay
mixin' from fresh to
brackish, yet it never
ever was sweet
oh maybe back when it
was the land where
pocahontas played
powhatan's living on
wild game & maize

these daze, yes these daze
i never wonder
all i can do is flow
in the now
in the kapow!
