Today is your day, Christoforo
try America on
see how you like her
festooned
in rectangular drape
of green/white/red
marching tribands
horizontal yellow, red
paraded
there, just flesh wounds?
today is your day, Christoforo
put America on
see how she likes you
festooned
like Illsabella
in farrier shoes
reeking
like Genoa salami
bologna
parading
shoshone the way to go home
paraded with a warmart bag over your face
dying in a smile.

Cristoforo, what have you uncovered
in your search for treasures to bring
home to your Queenie Isa, in this land
once a Paradise for the Original Peoples
some 500 years after your first landing...
enjoyed the read and the idea within, HH

sailor
visionary
greedy
from dubious origin
obstinated
confused without knowing
lonely
methodic?
false counting
faith and testimony
about the too much
and the too little
inventaries,
promises
waiting for the Gran Khan ships
near the land of palms
(here is still oficially named "the race day"...

) gracias, Haro!

(Notice the Feds get the day off.)
This poem had to be written.
It's hard to like.
It hurts the kid in me, that used to believe it was better.
Way to go Chris.
And you too Harola.....

Dear Arcadia - De nada! TY, too; you have captured the essence of my "salute," the thrust of which has always been/always, I fear, be as long as power reigns & wields that power. Ques: If I may ask, where is "here?", i.e. "the race day" - H'H./H.e.m.

h_p - In-deed! If the egrege of the day were not so brazen in manifest destiny's newspeak, I would say you crack me up! (wait, I just did - lol). I recall when 1st. I realized the emmis of all this, & Its accompanying crush. If I have squared the playing field with this laconae verse, It was in anticipation of the erudition mirrored by your comments - TY, I will ReReRead them... TY for "liking" her, if only... When you first started posting here the pundits of poetry were giving you a lot of static. Or so it seemed to me.
I like your work a lot, what I don't get I ponder.
I am here in the new world courtesy of Baron De Hirsch.
I could have been Argentinian if not for a simple twist of fate.

Hello, MrGuilty - Nice to meety your (Irish) acquaintance. TY for the shout & approbation, I am pleased to be at times a source for your mentation. We all have some primordial closet of our exit, I must say It pleases me that the possibility of Argentina far-outweighs the twist of fate which may have landed you (as a boy) from Brazil. Hope you will continue to be MrGuilty of Reading my Work (Hey, I'm still here, where are the pundits?, perhaps riding 'bored their detractors) - H'H./H.e.m.
