the days that follow become as a calendar of events
the markings and shapings become an interval of time
where one can see the interwoven aspect
of its solitary invention
standing for itself as fixation on the present
it draws the seer into a complexity
and navigates the eye toward a fixed point
and then releases
it captures what it cannot overwhelm
it maintains what it cannot obliterate
it argues what it best exemplifies
after moments of intrigue
the wall and canvas become inseparable
and it exists as if it had always been there
the canvas
