soft like summer's rain

Post by sweetwater » October 30th, 2009, 5:54 pm

it is you and how i imagined you
singing in the forest from years
spent along desert roads and pine trees

the sound of a jet overhead
and the lines we draw in sand

it is the response of such claims
the beginning of an eternity
spent in childhood
and how the years pass like
warm summer rain

it is how i remember it
the hitch-hiking across the delta
along the nile
before the bus exploded
and took the lives of innocent
travelers

it is how it began
and how it never ends

the dream of walking
endless in the wandering
along shores so distant
and a canteen of stale water

the fig trees still stand
as if forgotten
the olive branches breaking
in a gentle wind

the coral reefs aglow
in the night deep
into the shadow
of a calling

it is almost as if
being there was reminiscent
of vapor and ghosts
in the mist of a hot summer
day cooling in the night

and how i forget to
include other things

the firepit in the middle
of a restaurant where gathered
souls sat in the recline
of a day spent in the adventure

and the spiralling
tall tales of sharks and whales

and tie-dyed t-shirts

tall tales of sharks and whales
sitting on olive branches

waiting

for the forest to arrive on the desert road
for the firepit inmidst their gathering
and the wandering
along the distant shores

Whoa.
This reeled me in, and hit in the gut.
Fantastic.
