the trumpet can only blow so far

Post by Perdida » November 9th, 2009, 3:23 am

it was during the time of my last cigarette
when you performed your songs for me
and let your dark horses bolt

that’s when you dream caught me
and tangled me into a baton-twirling bimbette
for your hip-hop acrobatics

but the vinyl can only take so much rubbin babe
and the trumpet can only blow so far

it’s the drum that keeps on beating
and the bitching always follows suit
like wings that scatter feathers
like an extravagant opus
with the makeup of strings
and those golden rings

that sit like kings and queens
on your fiddly fingers

they match your eyes
shifting always shifting
like a loosely fitted petticoat
that at the end of the day
crumples into a heap
like a tired old woman
onto the floor.

I dig your beat. This is hip to the square of ten. Most excellent.

Damn ! Ya put me in a tight spot. Damn ! And you're so far away. Damn ! Guess all I can do now is turn into a coyote and go hug a rattlesnake. Grrrr! Grrrr! Ya put the crunch in my toast this morning, I'll tell ya that. When I'm done with my snake hug I'm gonna go gnaw on a stone for awhile.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

you are very good, you know. always enjoy your work - always can feel it. you sort of get to know a person through their poetry in a different way than face to face. i know that sounds mundane, but it's more than that. it's like the windows to the soul thing. i trust you through your poetry.

What a treat this is, that ending came out so fabulously banging, too.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
