Not That Kind of Love

The quickest way to get into your pants
is with a lie oh, I mean a beautiful lie
a lie that you long to believe

You would love me, yes
like a fat girl loves a skinny mirror and a broken scale
you would adore me if I told you the perfect lie
told you all was truth and beauty
every star was hung for you
told you death would never come

you would love me, yes
yes, you would love me

but in your dreams
I would play a simpering dog
you would love me, yes
yes, you would love me
like an old garment
you imagine flatters you,
a transparent compliment,
yes, you would love me
you would love me, yes

love me like a hollow calorie
a possession of your vanity
but
you would love me, yes
yes, you would love me

The poetic conscience of a shallow man, albeit briefly and in a drark alley, meets the artistic expression of love.

Marvellous.

aside from pjbuk's fine haiku-ish review, it's gotta be the voice of longing - let me scratch your back, come on scratch mine.

almost a mad magazine's 'what they really mean' kind of poem, but also a lovesong to getting it on, why not.

Made me look up 'haiku'.

So much yet to learn.

If you con her sweetly she'll reciprocate. I love your anti-hero poems. There is truth here.

I don't think the speaker wants:
but in your dreams
I would play a simpering dog
(nice image)

longing, yes, but "not that kind of love"

you would love me, yes
yes, you would love me
like an old garment
love this image, kinda bitter-sweet.
