To give your lines a sense of meter,
gives the song a singing voice.
You can rhyme if you want .. (you rhyme or you don't),
but meter, to me, is not even a choice.

That's just the way it comes outa me.
I hear it with meter inside of my head.
For some it's a tool, I guess, but for me
it' more like the damn metrofuckingnome your piano teacher put on the top of the fricking piano that won't turn off, instead!

heh ... last long line a tribute to Ogden Nash.

Sometime it rhyme,
Sometime it won't,
Sometimes it gots a beat,
Sometimes it don't.
Speaking with the within
Tells a heart where its been.

writing is another art form where the writer seeks a compositional balance where the flow is easy and moving to the reader, especially themselves, the worst of critics. this flow certainly requires a meter along with all else when composing.

nice composition, Dor'... tyvm

like a clock.

I find it meters more, lately. Even rhymes at times.
