the trinity

funk punk and reggae
the trinity, stood the test of time
messed with its tempo, rhythm crime
the classics were better, genius kept shifting
shifted faster on time curves, joy and agony
injustice and victory, kept shifting

this ain’t no party, ain’t no foolin’ around
homeboy needs a job so he join a local gang
blue eyed brown eyed protector of whatever
shoot a little straighter than the neighborhood
knock off one of those knuckleheads over there
sniper eyes tired of the cross, how you gonna come
hands on your head or on the trigger of your gun?
joe strummer died at fifty, quickly.

the west defeated fascism, approximated it
man if you don’t buy we die, see how it works?
man I ain’t no dylan, shit dylan wasn’t himself
the classics were better before accelerated time
you could hear the sea, the war movements
the incessant ocean too.

surfin’ guitar, the waves
shifting genius in the crashing
both sides back side over under ride
your mind gets away with too much

this is great, a most entertaining journey...the trinity is brilliant, it makes it mark and the rest of the poem is moving at about mach 5, but worth the ride....sometimes, you just have to not ask questions, hop in....go along for the ride...

Thanks Jack, Steve. I guess you could even say there's some "commentary" in there. Yeah, I like this one a little better now. Lifted a couple of "buzz clip" partial lines from Talking Heads and the Clash and threw 'em in. Mea culpa.

Mnaz, negativity is often underrated. Everyone is supposed to be positive. Yet many of the greatest reformers of our time held the status quo in contempt. The sixties was replete with such people. They made a difference.
