Howling

There was a howling poem once that opened with a proposition...." I have seen the greatest minds of my generation destroyed by madness..."(Allen Ginsberg's Howl).... It's not that crazy spinning in the wind madness strung out on the poppy or the weed that destroys minds...It's the lawn mower boredom...the life sucking mortgage...the demand to be productive until fatigue rapes one's every thought...it's all the consumption driving one's every breath....it's the attachment that we are all sold on...it's being "Amused To Death" ( A Roger Waters Album)...it's having one's mind educated into submission...it's living that destroys great minds.....

Nothin' like being ravaged by the Great & Burly Thought Monster !
I hear that shit !

Raise that brush, Painter, Raise that brush !

Persian: Spartans! Lay down your weapons!
Spartan reply: Persian! Come and get them!

cast up on a beach
short of breath
from warm soft dark wetness
to cold hard dry light

blizzard wind
howling
wheeeeee
whirrrr wheeee
branch snap crack
tree down
snowbound
coffee warms
hands, oh man,
what a day,
snowblind
in a white out,
no doubt about it,
i musta died and
was reborn in the
arctic!

i sort of liked that album
there were a couple of good guitar songs on that album

i think ken kesey said something
about going further and deeper

but then no one's ever heard much from him lately

maybe he went too far
or maybe there is only so much that you can absorb

i think that's what you are saying

until you need a break or a holiday
or a new beginning

For years now I've seen a t-shirt in my head...red shirt...Kesey's face on the front, printed in white from like an old grainy photograph, maybe some black or grey for shading...above his head, "As deep into the past as my history goes..."...below his chest, "...into the future my love goes furthur." And then maybe his name and dates below that.

He brought the whole world into his movie.
