Stoned ape evolution theory

in africa, in the cradle of man
jungles receded and savannas grew
and funky primates roamed the plains
in search of the grassy truth
to the grasslands! to forage and cope
the funky tribes adaptin’ survivin’
berries ‘n mushrooms for diet (not dope)
ah mushrooms, psi-lo-cybin inbibin’
visual acuity, ecstatic visions
blurred boundaries between the senses
new spoken sounds to convey pictures
sight, speech and vision; new evolution!
but climate, it changed, twelve-thousand years back
alas, no more mushrooms for dinner
and the tribes went back to their brutal packs
can’t tell the saints from the sinners
twelve-thousand years; can’t blame the apes
man is just going through a bloodthirsty phase
two-thousand twelve and we come to the end
or the next mayan cycle of peace
or mckenna’s timewave singularity!
the infinite extropy, complexity!
anything could happen, all at once
including no change at all.

was reading up on terrence mckenna... was a fascinating guy. (better living through hallucinogenics). developed theory of "novelty," and wrote "timewave zero" software to track it-- found a "singularity point" of "infinite novelty" or something like that will occur in nov. 2012... claims he calculated this even before he knew about the mayan calendar stuff (hmm..) so he just tweaked things a bit so that the "singularity point" moved to 12-21-12. hmm...

yes, he's something else. If you tune in to spiritplant radio (cenacle's weekly post), you'll sometimes luck out and hear mckenna.
revolutionrabbit used to talk about mckenna's work a lot.
His voice is amazing - (he was amazing). Always good to listen to him near meditation time. fly to the moon and beyond.

thanks judih. I should check out more of the spiritplant. Cenacle writes some transcendent poetry, no doubt. He gets on amazing runs. I'm sure the radio gig is mind-bending as well. McKenna's ideas and life are/were fascinating-- the trip to La Chorrera, the psychedelics expedition, the contact made, and insight into the I Ching.. and then that whole 2012 thing... modeled on a computer... freeky.

saw Terence in person a few times, stood next to him for a few moments at a party listenin to him up close. The first time i heard him was on the radio in Santa Cruz Calif. and he just kinda blew me away.I read his books, and had a lot of tapes.I was interested in his Timewave stuff, but what really got me was the poetic philosophical context he spoke from, Terence liked to quote James Joyce, and he like Jorge Luis Borges, and the philosopher Alfred North Whitehead.I had a dream about Terence the night before he died.

Ten four
I enjoyed it so much I can’t resist the temptation to goof with it.
If we can’t blame the apes, who can we blame?
Eve?
Just goofin I know who’s fault it is

In the meantime Godot has come and gone
And Kalki dawdles
Found an interesting bit today about “end times”
[quote]In Hindu traditions, Kalki (Devanagari: कल्कि; also rendered by some as Nehkalank, Nihkalanki, Kalkin and Kalaki) is the tenth and final Maha Avatara (great incarnation) of Vishnu the Preserver, who will come to end the Kali Yuga, (The Age of Darkness and Destruction). The name Kalki is often a metaphor for "Eternity" or "Time". The origins of the name probably lie in the word Kalka which refers to "dirt", "filth" or "foulness" and hence denotes the "Destroyer of Foulness", "Destroyer of Confusion", "Destroyer of Darkness", or "The Annihilator of Ignorance". Other similar and divergent interpretations based on varying etymological derivations from the ancient Sanskrit language, including one simply meaning "White Horse", have been made.[1] This article is about the concept in Hindu philosophy. ... "The tenth avatar, Kalki, is yet to come. At the end of the Age of Strife,
he will appear riding a white horse and holding a sword blazing like a comet.
He will re-establish a golden age, punish evildoers, comfort the virtuous, and then destroy the world.
Later, from the ruins of the earth, a new humankind will arise.

that sounds vaguely familiar...
...so maybe in 2012 we start trippin' on the psilocybins again, and get connected once more. poof! no more brutal primate structures for a while. and this was all a wonderful horrible 10,000 year detour...
so many variations on the theme.
