never cared much for routine
'cept that paycheck on friday
to pay for the drugs I wanted
but given my druthers, I'd choose

unpredictability every single time
yes sir, give me those tuesday afternoons
in the sack with little miss Ida B. Gone
yes yes, ol' impermanent Ida, man oh man

she made me happy as a clam
though frankly I never understood how
anyone could measure a clam's elation,
I mean it's one thing to live in the jungle

with a middle class monkey family
study and record their habits,
but a clam ?.......c'mon they're so stoic
no, boring actually when you get right down

to the sea bottom of it all
which brings me back to my love
for change, I need to see things moving,
especially myself.

I wonder if Ezra Pound was happy like a clam
or maybe he just felt clammy.Back in the days
before paper people wrote the Dao on a shell.
how many clams does it cost to be happy?
I better clam up now.People are clamoring.

your response RR is a good old fashioned clambake.....much to ponder which is the beauty of writing, the scattering of seeds.....the harvesting of clams........sharing food with friends.........peace !

"I should have been a ragged pair of claws
scuttling on the bottom of the ocean."

my (faulty) memory of that Ts Eliot line.

ok, looked it up. actually, it was,

"scuttling across the floors of silent seas." not bad.

sorry. was reminded of this line, that's all.
clams don't have claws after all..
