THE POET OF THE CRYSTAL LUTE
Posted: September 1st, 2010, 4:40 pm
I am the poet of the crystal lute.
My instrument is transparent as air
and hard as diamond.
From its glass strings
I pluck a thousand thousand songs
of injustice
and greed
and cruelty.
I am the spokesperson of the Revolution.
I have been
blinded
murdered,
executed,
imprisoned,
tortured,
exiled
Yet I shall continue to sing as I have sung
since poetry began.
I sing in darkness
and my lute illuminates the night.
I sing in bright sunlight
and my lute sparkles
sending splinters of beauty into the soul.
My music will be stilled
only when humankind
becomes deaf to my voice.
My instrument is transparent as air
and hard as diamond.
From its glass strings
I pluck a thousand thousand songs
of injustice
and greed
and cruelty.
I am the spokesperson of the Revolution.
I have been
blinded
murdered,
executed,
imprisoned,
tortured,
exiled
Yet I shall continue to sing as I have sung
since poetry began.
I sing in darkness
and my lute illuminates the night.
I sing in bright sunlight
and my lute sparkles
sending splinters of beauty into the soul.
My music will be stilled
only when humankind
becomes deaf to my voice.
