chimes from deviation

A chime for each day of creation
and nothing for the rest;
they pulled from axes’ deviation
their do-you-hear-me test…

and nothing. For the rest,
the earth is a shady endeavor:
their do-you-hear-me test
consumes--and it’s louder than ever.

The earth is a shady endeavor
and in its thickets hides,
consumes. And it’s louder than ever,
the sob of deviled prides

and in its thickets hides,
the one who blames the two,
the sob of deviled prides
when naked joy was through.

The one who blames the two
they pulled from axes’ deviation;
when naked joy was through,
a chime for each day of creation.

but, and you know, a truck that's still might still be trucking again
when gears engage
and oil is changed

and I missed it here...and I missed you too.

and I'd think "I should stop back in" every time I'd see a notice come across my email that a jam was in session...or an announcement about this or that....

and I'd think of pen names and screen names
and I did keep you all in my prayers--
which is a kind of poetry--
but I missed you
and felt I'd been too long gone to just write myself back in,
which feels strange now
because I remember it all so well,
but still...

I'm glad you're still trucking here, glad to be back.

This is great stuff Joel! I guess we were both on the same wavelength- I posted a piece on deviations as well and realized right after you did too.

Lucy Lucy Lucy

devious devious devious

and having read yours, I have to say I'm flattered to share the wavelength (until, of course, we wave goodbye & deviate from its length)!

Fantastic verse here. The whole piece just says it so well. Enjoyed immensely.
