her chasm of denial

unspanable
a divide so vast
one would need to
know how to fly
which I didn't yet

to reach the town
of Verisimilitude,
of course I knew
this village was
likely a myth..... in any case

it never stopped me
descending the sheer
canyon walls forgetting
time after time
eventually I would

have to climb back up
to where I started
clinging to roots and crevices
all the way back to the top
cursing all the while

at my willingness

He hungered for love as a beggar for food
and climbed to its summit till turtledoves cooed,
yet when he was there
he threw up in dispair
with love lost to sickness at high
al-ti-tude.

yes, sometimes one would have to fly
when the usual footpaths are found
lacking, or slow, or impassable...

nice.
