Step Forward

Some
things ache
when life breaks
us.
This doesn't mean
we're broken.
It doesn't mean
we're defeated.
The ache reminds us
we are mortal
and capable of feeling.
The ache
will subside.
Slowly, gradually
if we choose
to take a step forward.
Every single day,
a step forward.
Towards a new battle to overcome,
towards a better understanding of life,
towards a happiness that one day will be attained.
But it starts
with that first step.

A big second to half-steps, and stuffles even. Some things do ache when life breaks us--and a question for us broken ones is: are there any things that don't?
Lucy...I've loved your writing for a long time and I would advise you to ask some of these great questions in a column here...yo no da 1 widda beeach? But seriously, if these writings are coming from as painful a place as it seems, and from as broken a good heart as it appears, then many big hugs your way and prayers for wholeness.
And thank you for the art of your heart.

There is experienced wisdom and determination in this poem. What you say is true.

Thank you all for your replies. Thank you for the hugs and wishes...Life is an ever evolving phenomena and Iwrite simply and plainly about that which I experience. It's not much but it's all I've got.
Thank you so much...

It's hard to step forward and move through the difficulties sometimes. The human condition and living life can be so taxing and difficult. That's exactly what you have to do, Lucy! You said it well. Your strength is showing.

Keep it up! I can learn from you.
If it wasn't for my vanilla cappuccino, I don't know how I'd get out of bed in the morning, some days.
