a happy poem

So, I haven't had anything really inspiring me to write about...and forcing myself to write was coming up with mopey melodrama...so why not some happy melodrama, write?
You’re easily impressed with lavender
and that’s impressive too – and truly. Yes,
there’s something in the tender quietness
with which you recognize the lavender
I bring in little fists of lavender,
snapped freshly from the shrubby purple mess
that grows beside the church and loves to bless
my hands perennial; and lavender
like this is cheap: it dies within a week
and dries above its little vase in blue
and hobnailed spikes— while water threads
its stems with stagnant mold. But when I sneak
a bunch of lavender to home for you,
you grin and kiss me like we’re newlyweds.
