poetry like UFO's

Post by revolutionrabbit » October 15th, 2010, 6:02 pm

almost everyday there are new sightings
books telling of the coming of the word
and most recent telling of a vast fleet
that will cross your sky on so and so date
sightings are all the rave
we are entering the very next phase
there was a poem sighting today
and they try to explain them away

when I was a kid at the matinee
they showed a UFO propaganda film
flying saucers over Washington D.C.
now days people see Jesus in peach pie
and Mary in a croissant, but I do exaggerate
I am in search of a poem sighting, they
so rare, so even when you read a poem
by a famous poet or not so,famous
it still has that quality
of appearing rare

everyday they turn on negative people
that are nothing but corporate whores
these corporate whores talk about lies
and deception, they are payed to lie
they don't care they love to smirk
and deceive, they look like mad dogs
dressed in fancy suits, and they will
sell us down the river, so they can
tell more lies another day, ever
wonder why the men look like
shady used car salesmen, and the
women all look cross-eyed?

meanwhile in the news are UFO'S
and there was a poem sighting today
now they explain away the objects
they just had to be run away balloons
the mad foxes in fancy suits
said so

and now a word from our sponsor
consume consume consume
buy the lies and deception
and feed it to your children

today wall street tomorrow the planet
some military guys say UFO's prevented
nuclear accidents, or at least they think so
today a river of orange sludge crosses Europe
and a strange object caused an airport shutdown
in China

just yesterday they spotted the Tao
and a poem was sighted on the bamboo mountain
I Ching says nothing about strange objects in the sky
well maybe, that "sacred vessel" the cauldron could be
but the Tao looks like a flying disk with black and white
dots in the center of the whirling device
all you need is a little imagination and a dragon appears
or a paper lantern on the wind just happend

but I still think the poem is the most unidentified
or conversely the most over identified
depending on how it appears at the moment
could be balloons could be what Jung called the shadow
but what ever it is some monster in the Japanese sea
or just blips on a screen it is getting closer every day
it just might be a poem that just happens when we
are not looking

I sighted a poem yesterday
It was like mana from heaven
And all I could say
Was
"pretty nice"

I appreciate the poetry

nice poem/proesy or however you wish to label it
I like it because it is not imagaic poetry but it depends on ideas

I was about to say something about the 'nice' remark, Jack, but I kept mum

Here is a UFO poem that appeared on Oral Sets, the spoken-word CD that Doreen and I did a few years ago. You can listen and read here:

It's strangely responsive to questions you ask in your piece
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

as i see it the images work with the ideas
that's what makes the poem go around
i can always bounce off political or religious
the vacuum of ideas is filled with imagistic
labyrinths

the history of ideas, should be the stuff of poetry
and the poetic intelligence is strangely able to
elucidate them, where they seem to slip by
our otherwise distracted minds

notice that some ideas seem as bright and fresh
as when they were first thought, others seem
lost in idle speculation, and so on.

the idea of the UFO is that like the idea of TV?
